DigiSQUID Program
Within this project, we propose to design and testing of a non-invasive sensor with superior response time and dynamic range, which could operate in ambient environment. This sensor is based on a digital High Temperature Superconductive SQUID, capable of operating in an unshielded environment with a sensitivity of better than 1pT/VHz.

Such sensitivity allows for the remote detection of cracks in deep-lying steel reinforcements in bridges, cavities developing underground or behind the concrete wall of tunnels, magnetic inclusions and cracks in turbine blades (planes). But at this high sensitivities these sensors can also be used for non-invasive high-resolution detection of magnetic heart signals and the detection of land and/or sea-mines.

The applicability of this SQUID system will be demonstrated in non-destructive material analysis. Based on the results achieved it can be studied if and how the SQUID systems can be used in other applications.
